PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject cell line, capable of infecting fowls in vivo and maintaining a Marek's disease virus(MDV) in the form of a nonlytic or a lytic infection in the cell line and suitable for producing an MDV vaccine by obtaining a chicken cell strain infected with the MDV in a monolayer cultured product from a specific chicken embryonal cell. SOLUTION: A maintainable chicken cell strain infected with an MDV of a monolayer cultured product is obtained from a chicken embryonal cell(CEC), which is negative to a chicken helper factor(Chf), in the absence of a virus, treated by a chemical mutagen and then infected with the MDV. A herpesvirus of turkeys (HTV) strain FC126-OCL deposited as a cell strain ATCC CRL12052, an MDV strain SB1-OCL deposited as a cell strain CRL12053, etc., are preferred as the MDV. |
