PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a good minute recording part almost without a rim by forming an organic coloring matter layer containing a perylene type coloring matter which is expressed by a specified general formula on a substrate and to accomplish recording sensitivity which is of small bit length jitter and enough for high linear velocity short wavelength recording and recording properties. SOLUTION: An organic coloring matter layer containing a perylene type coloring matter which is expressed by a formula (R<1> , R<2> are an alkyl group which can be substituted, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group; A, B, C, and D are a ring which can have a substituent.) is formed on a substrate to make an optical recording medium capable of recording and reproduction by laser beams of 620-690 wavelength. A polycarbonate substrate, an amorphous polyolefin substrate, etc., are used preferably as the substrate. The organic coloring matter layer is required to have the maximum spectral absorption in a range of 510-730nm, sufficient sensitivity can not be obtained in a short wavelength region below 510nm, and the sensitivity is not enough even in a long wavelength region above 730nm. |
