WATER-BASED PAINT COMPOSITION FOR ROAD PAVEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel water-based coating composition which can early develop quick drying properties and good water resistance. SOLUTION: This composition contains a latex containing pendant amine functional groups. The latex has a glass transition temperature higher than about 0 deg.C and contains a base in an amount enough to adjust the pH of the composition to a value at which substantially all of the amine functional groups are brought into a nonionic state. The composition has an actual glass transition temperature lower than the application temperature, and therefore it can develop quick drying properties and early water resistance when it is applied to a substrate.
