PRODUCTION OF PISTON FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND PISTON PRODUCED BY THE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the production of a piston for internal combustion engine provided with an air chamber having a specific insert by positioning the insert to the piston so as to form an integral member of the formed piston with the insert at the time of casting the piston. SOLUTION: The insert 10 is held in a piston crown 24 by casting the piston 12 around the insert 10 to form a part of the piston 12. The insert 10 is held at a prescribed position in a casting shoulder part 30 and this shoulder part 30 is projected into a combustion chamber 22 exceeding a stand-up flange part of the insert 10. The insert 10 is wholly incorporated in the piston crown 24. This merit can provide a prescribed heat insulation, protect a bearing 32 from high temp. developed at the time of burning fuel and reduce the necessity of a cooling means for the piston to be contained in the internal combustion engine, because the air chamber 18 is wholly arranged at the upper side of the bearing 32 at the small end part of a connecting rod.
