PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound, useful as an intermediate for producing phosphates in high yield by reacting phosphorus oxychloride with a monovalent phenol compound in the presence of a catalyst consisting of magnesium metal, MgCl2 , MgO, etc., in an inert dry gas. SOLUTION: This aromatic mono-substituted dichlorophosphate, which is expressed by formula II and useful as an intermediate for producing phosphates, etc., is produced in high yield by reacting phosphorus oxychloride with a monovalent aromatic compound (e.g. phenol) having a phenolic OH expressed by formula I (Ar is a 6-15C aromatic group, and the aromatic group may be substituted with a halogen atom) at a molar ratio of (1.0-4.0):1.0 at atmospheric pressure in the presence of a catalyst consisting of one or more kinds selected from magnesium metal, magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide, etc., under substituting the space in the reaction vessel with an inert gas such as nitrogen continuously or intermittently. |
