FIELD: plastic metal working, namely, production of rods and wire by drawing. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of deforming metal in cone drawing dies with use of lubricant. For arbitrary-size catch blanks are deformed in such a way that their reduction value for one pass is determined according to relation <EMI ID=0.36 HE=6 WI=54 TI=CHI>, where d<SB>0</SB> and d<SB>1</SB> - blank diameter before and after deformation respectively, f - friction factor in deformation zone, alpha<SB>n</SB> - reduced conicity angle of drawing die. Said catch is formed with diameter corresponding to diameter of blank after current pass. For catch with leading end preliminarily slandered until final dimension of article, blank is deformed at each pass with squeeze value determined according to given relation <EMI ID=0.37 HE=15 WI=69 TI=CHI>, where K=d<SB>0</SB>/d<SB>k</SB> - percentage parameter, d<SB>0</SB>- diameter of article at inlet of drawing die for each step of multiple drawing process, d<SB>1</SB> - diameter of article at outlet of drawing die for each step of multiple drawing process, d<SB>k</SB> - final diameter of article.
