TREATMENT FOR BACILLARY DYSENTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent diarrhea and crisis of hemolysis uraemia syndrome caused by hemorrhagic E. Coli infectious disease of an intestinal canal by dosing a pharmaceutical composition containing anαGal(1→4)βGal subunit and a compatible carrier. SOLUTION: Crisis of hemolysis uraemia syndrome caused by hemorrhagic E. Coli infectious disease of an intestinal canal and mediated by a Shiga-like toxin(SLT) is prevented by dosing a pharmaceutical composition containing anαGal(1→4)βGal subunit and an inert and compatible carrier such as silica within 3 days after the infectious disease manifesting itself. TheαGal(1→4)βGal subunit is bonded to the carrier through a non-peptide linker arm such as (CH2 )8 C(O) and the subunit is bonded to the SLT toxin.
