The method brings gas cylinders (2) to an evacuation station (4) along a conveyor (30) and diverting mechanism (28). The evacuation station has a jack operated cylinder connection, a liquid detector, means of mechanical inversion and a pump to remove any cylinder residues. After evacuation the cylinders are conveyed (9) to a carousel type filling station (5). At one of its peripheral emplacements (6), filling through a connection (15) is controlled by a valve (16) which is operated by an automatic machine (27) using data from a mass flowmeter (17). The flowmeter signals an electronic unit (25) which sends converted information the automatic machine which also controls the station motors (26). |
