The device includes two linear cameras each made up of a number of aligned photodetectors. The cameras are placed at the lower extremities (A,B) of a measuring plane and measure the luminance level at an opening angle of 90 degrees. A projectile entering the measuring plane (M) at a time (t0) is characterised by its angular co-ordinates. The projectile image is formed by the objective of each camera by modifying the luminance of its pixels. An image analysis module monitors the luminance variations of each pixel.
