Method for making rubbing trim, particularly for clutch lining, comprises impregnation of fabric based on mineral fibres, with metallic reinforcement, in mixture based on thermosetting resin, rubber dissolved in solvent and dispersed fillers; drying impregnated thread; storage in coiled form in cask; formation of template in form of flat ring by moulding; hardening template under pressure; sizing ring; and piercing in order to fix rivets into it. Impregnation takes place in bath containing a first (light) solvent in association with a second (heavy) solvent such that the boiling point of the heavy solvent is notably higher than that of the light solvent. Also claimed is rubbing trim made by process for use in cars. |
