Filter plate for filtering liquids and gases comprises three ceramic layers (2, 3, 4) combined to form a laminate. The outer layers (2, 4) act as filter layers while the middle layer has a coarser pore structure than the outer layers and acts as drainage layer. The three layers are seated together. Preferably, the laminate is produced from separate green films which are assembled before sintering. The middle layer may be formed from several part layers (3.1, 3.2), which have a stepped pore structure which decreases in pore size towards the outer layers.
