Heat transfer and insulating liquids, particularly used in transformers (T), are degassed on-line in which the liquid is circulated by a pump (P) under pressure and passes through a capillary (C) or spray nozzle or analogous device to a collecting vessel (S) under vacuum (V). The collecting vessel is connected to the return leg of the circulation system. Under vacuum, gas escapes from the liquid. An expansion vessel (E) may be provided for systems where the volume of liquid varies.
