In order to obtain further instruction from connected ISDN terminals (20, 26, 27, 28) the service resource function (23) is provided. The function is responsive to data carried in ISDN data channels to provide prompt and collect service to users of ISDN. The invention allows the addition of prompt and collect services such as account allocation to be provided.
