<p>Steel is made from solid additive material by charging the solid material (28) into the arc furnace and melting using electrodes (19 to 21). Fuel-oxygen burners (23,24,25), located between the electrodes and enter the furnace from the side, are used to cut areas in the solid material where oxygen lances (29 to 34) are inserted. These lances are directed to flow oxygen onto the surface of the melt. The arc furnace used in the process is also claimed.</p> |
