In the separation of anionic dyes from waste liquor with water-insoluble polymer, 100 l waste liquor are treated with 10-500 g polymer containing 10-99.5 wt.% heterocycle(s) (I) based on vinylimidazole and 0-89.5 wt.% comonomer (II), polymerised in the presence of 0.5-30 wt.% crosslinking agent (III).
