Die closing mechanism

The die closing mechanism incorporates two two-armed cradle systems (2, 3) which are connected to one another by a drawbar (1), and are supported against one another, respectively above and below the drawbar, by tool carriers (4, 5) or die halves (6, 7) and a mechanism (8) taking up a thrust. At least one tool carrier (4) is mounted slidably on the drawbar, and is movable by means of a feed unit (9) towards the other tool carrier forming part of the cradle system. The die closing mechanism is characterised by the fact that the feed unit is located below the drawbar and forms part of the mechanism.
