This invention proposes to provide a hydraulic brake system with a device for active braking with a diaphragm damper (8) which is optimally configured with regard to its overall dimensions. The diaphragm (9) of the diaphragm damper of the invention is not constructed in planar form, as is common in prior art, but in a pot shape. This simplifies installation in a valve block, which is difficult with a diaphragm damper (8) of great surface area, because the bores of such a valve block are located in close proximity to each other. The edge (11) of the diaphragm (9) of the diaphragm damper (8) can also serve as the housing gasket, so that any additional gasket is unnecessary. The diaphragm damper (8) can be advantageously placed in a location in which it replaces a bore seal otherwise required.
