Sound-attenuator for car sun-roof

The sound attenuator comprises separate wind deflecting vanes (4,6) which are arranged on independent hinge axes (14,16) across the travel direction (X). The vanes are mounted at the leading edge of the roof opening and their free edges extend above the level of the fixed roof skin round the opening in the working position, while moving into the rest position below this level. Some of the hinge axes may be inclined to the car transverse axis, and at an angle other than a right angle to the lengthwise axis. The vanes can be loaded into the working position by coil springs with arms enclosing their spindles, and can be swung forwards into the rest position by the sliding roof. The spindles can be held in position by spring clips formed on their bearings.
