The clamps (5) are passed through holders outside the container staves (4). They can be adjusted relative to these in the tensioning or tightening direction and guided firmly and non-twistably relative the staves in this same direction. The clamps are free from guides at right angles to the staves and the holders have loops in the centre part of the staves for the clamps to pass through but have recesses opening outwards to the outside of the staves. Preferred clamps consist of plastics bands. The staves are arranged in rows with a detachable join between first and last staves to allow the container to be opened up.
