<p>The present invention relates to a method for transporting a humid fibrous mass and for processing the same using a liquid or gaseous chemical reagent, wherein said invention may be used in the cellulosic paper industry. The device of the present invention includes the follwing members: a vertical body with a reception hopper; an endless screw coaxial to the body and comprising a conical loading zone as well as a mixing chamber that includes a dispersing member at its inlet and is in abutment against the smallest turn of the last compacting zone for the humid fibrous mass; an outlet duct for the processed mass; a transport agent supply system; and, if need be, a system for supplying superheated steam and/or a chemical reagent. The ratio between the diameters of the largest and smallest turns of the endless screw in the loading zone is d?2max = d2¿min (C¿1?/C2) where dmax is the diameter of the largest turn of the endless screw, C1 is the specific volume of the fibrous mass at the inlet of the loading zone and C2 is the specific volume of the fibrous mass at the outlet of the compacting zone. This device may be used for efficiently mixing a humid fibrous mass, for evenly heating it and for transporting the same at concentration of between 16 and 90 wt.%.</p> |
