When folded, the entire unit is accommodated on a transporting vehicle. The rows of seats are accommodated on a platform comprising a middle section (7) extending for the whole length of the vehicle and fixed to it, and two side-sections (9) extending upwards in the folded position. These unfold by swinging downwards into a position flush with the middle one, each section accommodating two or more rows of seats, each row containing 14 seats or more. Unfolding is performed by a portal-type frame (10) with two links (16) from its gantry (14) to the ends of the unfolding side-sections. A pair of lateral roof spars (28) extend for half the vehicle length slew through 90 degrees on end mountings are joined at the ends by short spars protruding beyond the platform sections. The lateral spars are joined by a bearing bracket with horizontal axis to the portal frame, which is lifted and lowered by rams in vertical guides.
