Exhaust emissions cleaner for diesel engine vehicle

The exhaust duct of a diesel engine is passed through a carbon remover comprising a spiral insert (5) which generates a spiral movement of the exhaust gases to spin the spiral insert. The centrifugal force on the exhaust gasses forces the carbon particles through a grid and into a collecting tray (4) for disposal. The carbon particles are either burnt in the tray or are passed back into the inlet manifold for burning. The tray is fitted with glow plugs (10) to burn the carbon if the rate of collection of carbon exceeds a set level. The combustion products in from the tray are passed back to the inlet manifold. Smaller carbon rates are dealt with by directly flushing them back into the inlet manifold.
