The liquid storage system has a shaft (11) hollowed out of the ground. A sealed supple casing (13) has a volume which increases during liquid filling and decreases during emptying. A liquid extraction pump (20), located in the casing, is submerged when the casing is filled with liquid. The pump is connected to a tubular extraction conduit (61). A fire fighting installation (33) is located on top of the shaft on a concrete base (35). A chassis (36) on the base has an upper weather protection cover (37). An on/off button (40) on the chassis is connected to an electricity box (22) which is connected to an electricity supply (41). The pump has electric supply cables (60) which pass through the wall of the extraction conduit. The fire fighting equipment comprises a reel (42) on which is wound a pipe (43) connecting the extraction conduit to a hose (44) equipped with a valve (45).
