The child seat comprises a seat part (5) and a back part (6) which are fixed on a vehicle seat equipped with an inertia seat belt (26). The seat belt has a ventral part (26b) and a pectoral part (26a). The seat back has on its face a guide (25a) for the seat belt pectoral portion. The seat has a rotating bar (33) provided with an open buckle (32) allowing the passage of the seat belt pectoral portion. The rotating bar is rotated in one direction so as to hold the seat belt against the inertia roller (28). This one directional rotation is accomplished by a pawl and ratchet (35).
