A process for manufacturing a pressing die, especially for optical discs, involves (a) recording information, which is to be duplicated, in the form of a latent image in a photosensitive resin layer (2) on a substrate (1') by selective exposure of certain layer zones (3); (b) removing the exposed layer zones (3); (c) growing micro-projections (7') in the resin-free zones (5); and (d) removing the residual resin zones (2). Preferably, the substrate (1') material is selected from nickel, chromium and their alloys and the nitrides of titanium, tantalum, molybdenum and their alloys. Also claimed is a pressing die obtained by the above process. |
