Method for sheet metal assembly

The method for assembling two pieces of sheet metal involves making a hole (12) in the upper sheet (10). The hole has several inwards projecting fastening lugs (14) distributed in regular intervals along its periphery (16). The lugs are positioned to delimit an internal orifice (20) coaxial with the hole and of the same diameter as a fixing screw. A hole, corresponding to the orifice, is made in the lower metal sheet. The fixing screw which has a milled head is engaged with the lugs during progressive driving of the head into the hole. This creates a cold drawing zone with a permanent deformation of the lugs so as to immobilise rotation of the head at the end of the assembly operation.
