Flame retardant thermoplastic moulding materials (M) comprise :(A) at least one halogen-free aromatic polycarbonate ; (B) at least one halogen-free elastic rubber graft polymer ; (C) at least one halogen-free thermoplastic aromatic vinyl copolymer ; and (D) at least one sulphur compound of formula (I) as flame retardant. R = H or alkyl ; and m = 1-35. Also claimed are (i) the use of (M) for the preparation of flame retardant mouldings, fibres or films, (ii) flame retardant mouldings, fibres or films comprising (M) and (iii) halogen-free flame retardant systems containing at least one compound of formula (I) and at least one halogen-free phosphorous compound of formula (II). R<1>-R<4> = (cyclo)alkyl or aryl(alkyl); X = mono- or polycyclic aromatic group; a-d = 0-1; and p = 1-5.
