PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new CSF(colony-stimulating factor) having each specific amino acid sequence, bearing mouse or human bone marrow cell colony-forming activities, and useful as a medicine, by extracting a substance adsorbed to a used renal dialysis membrane with an acetonitrile-contg. acidic aqueous solution. SOLUTION: This new CSF has amino acid sequences of formula I to IV, or those of formula V and formula II to IV, respectively, having mouse or human bone marrow cell colony-forming activities, and being useful as e.g. a medicine. This new CSF is obtained by the following process: a used renal dialysis membrane made of polymethyl methacrylate-based polymeric material is subjected to extraction with an acetonitrile-contg. acidic aqueous solution consisting of aqueous solution of trifluoroacetic acid or hydrochloric acid with an acetonitrile concentration of 5-80wt.% as an extractive solvent, and the resultant liquid extract is lyophilized, followed by addition of 50% ethanol, the resultant precipitate is dissolved again and then subjected to high- performance liquid chromatography to effect purification. |
