PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a melt transfer ink image receiving sheet on which pore diameters on the surface of an acceptive layer are controlled uniformly, dot reproducibility, tone reproducibility and color sharpness are superior, the recording density is high and an ink image recording free from ink release is provided. SOLUTION: A melt transfer ink image receiving sheet is provided with a sheet-shaped substrate and a porous ink acceptive layer with a number of micropores formed by agitating mechanically a resin containing liquid composed of resin as a main component and containing an anionic surface active agent or an anionic surface active agent and a nonionic surface active agent on the sheet-shaped substrate, applying and drying, and the ratio of total area of pore sections formed of pores to the total surface area of the above-referred porous ink acceptive layer (pore area ratio) is in the range of 10-60%, and the area ratio (open area rate) formed of pores of diameter of 0.5-20μm on the above- referred porous sections is in the range of 70-100%. |
