PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for washing the inner surface of coating piping of an applicator which can reduce a washing time and the consumption of washing liquid by improving the washing properties of the inner surface of coating piping. SOLUTION: In washing the inner surface of coating piping of a roll coating machine type applicator in which coating is done while coating is being circulated between a coating tank 2 and a coating pan 1, after the coating tank 2 adjoining part of at least one coating piping of a coating supply piping 3 which supplies the coating from the coating tank to the coating pan 1 and coating return piping which returns the coating from the coating pan 1 to the coating tank 1 being closed, while a prescribed amount of coating washing liquid being supplied into the closed piping or after being supplied, compressed gas is supplied from the vicinity of the closed part into the piping to wash the inner surface of the piping, and next the closed part of the piping is opened to discharge the washing liquid in which the coating in the piping was dissolved. |
