<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption, to eliminate malfunction due to an external signal and to apply proper drive control to the image pickup device by sensing it that the user peeps a 1st display means so as to inhibit drive of a 2nd display means. SOLUTION: When the image pickup device enters an image pickup enable state, whether or not a reflected object is in existence in front of an EVF 107 based on the output from an eyepiece sensing circuit 103. When the reflected object is a pupil, it is discriminated that the user peeps the EVF 107 and a system control circuit 104 sends a command to a display selection circuit 120. The circuit 120 drives the EVF 107 to stop driving of a display monitor. On the other hand, when it is discriminated that no reflected object is in existence or the reflected object is not a pupil, it is discriminated that the user does not peep the EVF 107, the circuit 120 drives the monitor 115 and stops the operation of the EVF 107. Thus, only the display means used at all times is operated and the increase in power consumption is avoided while simplifying the operation.</p> |
