PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a band, to decrease the jitters, to increase the lock areas and also to eliminate the possibility of sending the wrong phase information to a voltage control oscillator by detecting the phase of an input signal and sending the phase information only when it is effective. SOLUTION: A preliminary charging latch 22 includes the latch inputs 18 and 20, a sample clock input 24, and the complementary latch outputs 26 and 28 which have the active and preliminary charging states. A phase detector circuit 30 is connected to the output 26 and generates a phase signal onto the phase output as the phase function of an input signal. A data effective signal is connected to a phase output 34 to transmit a phase signal when the output 26 is active and to stop the phase signal when the output 26 is kept in a preliminary charging state. Thus, the phase of an input signal such as a fast serial data flow is detected. |
