摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To test a rail highly reliably and carry out inspection at high speed and highly efficiently by precisely distinguishing the reflected echoes based on the structure of an object to be inspected from the reflected echoes of a flaw of the object to be tested. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic transmitting and receiving part 12 transmits a transmission signal to an ultrasonic probe 11 and at the same time amplifies a reception signal received by an oscillator in an ultrasonic probe 11 and sends the signal. The quantity of the movement of the ultrasonic probe 11 on a rail 10 is measured by a movement quantity measuring part 13. Reflected echoes of the reception signals from the ultrasonic transmitting and receiving part 12 are detected by reflected echo detecting part 14. The times of the detection of the reflected echoes is counted by a reflected echo counting part 15 for every beam path and in the case the number of the detection times of the reflected echoes is a prescribed number or higher, a judging part 16 judges that the reflected echoes in the beam path is the reflected echoes due to rail flange in the rail 10. The judging part 16 also judges the defect and the result of the judgment is displayed on a displaying part 17 and a recording part 18 and sent out as a hard copy output.
