PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vinylcyclohexene by cyclo-dimerizing a conjugated diolefin by using a highly active and easy to handle catalytic system comprising an onium salt of tricarbonylnitrosyl ferrate with a halogenated metal as precursors for the catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for cyclo-dimerizing a conjugated diolefin, is to obtain a vinylcyclohexene by cyclo-dimerizing a conjugated diolefin (e.g.; 1,3-butadiene) in a short period of time, in a high conversion rate and in a high selectivity by using an easy to handle catalytic system excellent in activity comprising an onium salt of tricarbonylnitrosyl ferrate expressed by formula I (A<+> is an onium ion) (e.g.; tetrabutylammonium tricarbonylnitrosyl ferrate) and a halogenated metal expressed by formula II [M is a metal atom of 3-14 groups in the Periodic Table; X is a halogen; R is an alkyl or an aryl; (m) is 0 or an integer of >=1; (n) is an integer of >=1; (m+n) is equal to the valence number of the metal atom expressed by M] (e.g.; FeCl2 ) as precursors of the catalyst. |
