<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the abrasion proof and feel of a golf club head by forming an inner layer using titanium nitride or titanium carbide as principal component and an outer layer using titanium carbide nitride as principal component on the head body made of a metallic material. SOLUTION: The surface of a head body 1A made of a metallic material is coated with an inner layer 2 formed of titanium nitride(TiN) or titanium carbide(TiC) as principal component, on which an outer layer 3 formed of titanium carbide nitride(TiCN) as principal component is further coated to make a golf club head 1 having a double layer treated surface 4. The thickness of the inner layer 2 should be 1.2-4.5μm, preferably 1.5-2.5μm while the thickness of the outer layer 3 should be 0.5-1.0μm, preferable 0.6-0.9μm. By this constitution, abrasion proof and feel of the club head are considerably improved.</p> |
