[Class 87 (ii).] In the preparation of carbon dollies for dry cells, the depolarizing composition is caused to rotate on its axis during the final pressing and while the carbon rod is inserted. Preferably this is effected by causing the finishing mould to rotate on its axis. In the operation of the apparatus shown in the drawing, the depolarizing composition is taken from the supply vessel and conveyed to and deposited in the shaping mould 1. When the vertical punches 13 have moved to their lowermost position, the horizontally disposed punches 3 move up against the finishing mould 2 which is rotating ; the carbon rods are fed and forced in by the piston 16, while the composition is subjected to continuous pressure. |
