The invention relates to an impact-resistant, transparent polymer composition comprising a matrix of a radically curing amorphous polymer and rubber particles dispersed therein and is characterized in that the average particle size of the dispersed rubber particles is < 100 nm. The invention also relates to a process for preparing the polymer composition. The process is characterized in that the rubber particles are prepared in situ in the matrix by reacting the starting substance(s) for the preparation of the rubber and in that in a solution containing the starting substances for the preparation of the polymer matrix and the dispersed rubber particles the temperature is raised to a reaction temperature (Treaction 1) which complies with equation (I): Tglass transition of the solution - 20 DEG C < Treaction 1 < Tglass transition of the solution + 20 DEG C.
