A method of separating stearidonic acid, or a derivative thereof, from a composition containing stearidonic acid, or a derivative thereof, and at least one other fatty acid, or a derivative thereof. The method comprises contacting the composition with a transition metal capable of forming a pi-complex with the stearidonic acid, or derivative, to form a complex of said transition metal and the stearidonic acid, or derivative, and separating at least some of the or each other fatty acid, or derivative, from the complex. |
