The present invention provides a peptide that is chemotactic for macrophages and that can be inhibited antagonists to opioid receptors such as the delta -opioid receptor. The invention provides methods of inhibiting a mammal's macrophage-mediated response to injuries and inflammation. Methods for identifying candidate therapeutic compounds also are disclosed. |
