PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable keeping a balance of stres between both right and left side surface parts by setting a difference between coefficients of friction in such a manner that the coefficient of friction between a belt side surface part with a large angle of inclination and a pulley groove is smaller than that of the part having a small angle of inclination. SOLUTION: When stress applied to the right side surface part 1a is expressed by F1 =N (sinθ1+μ1 cosθ1), and stress applied to the left side surface part 1b is expressed by F2=N(sinθ2+μ2 cosθ2), coefficientsμ1 andμ1 of friction are set in such a manner that F1=F2. As a method for realizing such coefficientsμ1,μ2 of friction, the frictional characteristics of the respective side surface prts 1a, 1b are changed by a belt cut method, after belt cutting, the respective side surface parts 1a, 1b are finished by grinding wheel, or pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to the respective side surface parts 1a, 1b. In this case, the frictional characteristics of the respective side surface parts 1a, 1b of the V-belt 1 are varied, but the frictional characteristics of the respective side surface parts of the pulley groove may be varied, or both may be jointly used to set a difference between both coefficientsμ1,μ2 of friction.
