Protective cover for door mat

The protective cover is fitted over the door mat to protect it from soiling in wet weather and is easily removed for cleaning. It is made of absorbent material which can be rinsed out and wrung dry. The cover is open at one end and is closed by a variety of closures. The outer surface of the cover can be coated to ease the removal of soiling. The closures are weather proof and include sliding clasp fasteners, press fit tapes, press studs etc. For bristle type door mats the cover can be sufficiently porous to allow the bristles to protrude through the cover.
