Ring spinning frame or ring twister is supplied on each of its sides with a tangential belt that is led over pulleys at the ends of the appropriate side, one belt leg driving the spindles and the other running free. When viewed from the machine's service side the driving leg (37) runs behind the spindles and the free leg in front. At several points (48, 49) the driving leg is deflected from its path into the machine to a drive motor (13, 14) and the loop (50) interior comprised by the two legs (37, 47) is free from parts above the tangential belts (18; 19) for connecting the two machine sides (1, 2).
