The clutch consists of a reaction plate (13), a friction disc (14) containing friction pads (15), a pressure plate (12), and a cover (11) fixed to the reaction plate (13). There is a spring diaphragm (16) acting against the cover (11) and the pressure plate (12), the pressure plate (12) being solid in rotation with the cover (11) and moves axially in relation to it. The pressure plate is made up of two semi-plates, one external (12A) and the other internal (12B). These plates can move axially one in relation to the other to take up play due to wear. It consists of a pair of ramps placed circumferentially, one of the ramps being fixed to the semi-plate (12B) whilst the other ramp is arranged to move circumferentially in relation to the support ramp in a sense to increase the thickness of the plate (12A) to reduce the gap caused by wear on the friction pads. This displacement is controlled by a trigger (22) sensitive to this wear. The adjustment (18) is attached to an inertia piece (12A) so that cyclic variations in the engine cause this displacement.
