The needle (5) is stabilised in the lateral direction in relation to the carburettor jet, minimising friction between them. The holder (6) bears via a washer (13) against the closed bottom (11) of the sleeve (7), which is moved by an actuating wire (9) in opposition to a return spring (10). A wider step (14) is formed on the washer at the side furthest from the holder, while a smaller step (15) on the other side forms a transverse tilt axis for the washer. The spring forces the latter to assume an inclined position, which is transmitted to the needle, pressing it permanently into lateral contact with the mouth (16) of the jet (4) and under virtually constant pressure dependent on the eccentricity of the tilt axis formed by the step (15).
