The method involves defining a transmission contract between each data source and a network data. Access of cells to a network is authorised. For each source, the cells which occur in each time unit are classified into n groups, depending on the larger or smaller value of the time interval between two successive cells, depending on the instantaneous rate associated o each cell. A global stock of tokens allocated to the time unit in proportion o the number of cells in each group is distributed. For each cell which occurs at the input of the network a request for authorisation of access of the cell is made. The access only occurs in the case of an available token for the group which corresponds to the instantaneous rate of the cell. If access is refused, various additional operations of requesting authorisation to access the same cell are made by successively searching for an available token per group which has directly higher instantaneous rates, until an authorisation of access for one of the groups encountered or definite refusal is made.
