The computer tomograph has a measuring arrangement including an X-ray emitter (10). The tomograph has a focus (1) and an edge detector (4). The latter is made up of several parallel lines each formed of a row of detector elements. It is possible to carry out a spiral scanning of a volume of the object (3) under examination by rotating the measuring arrangement (1,4) with simultaneous relative movement between this and the object (3) under examination. The edge detector (4) is arranged to tip relative to the axis of rotation (6) so that an acute angle is formed between an axis of symmetry and the axis of rotation (6). The acute angle may be adjustable.
