New fluorinated aromatic vinyl ether compounds for preparing fluoroelastomers

Vinyl ether compounds of formula CF2=CFO(CF2)nCF2C6H3(COOR)2 (A) are new; R = H or lower alkyl, and n = 1-5. Also claimed are the following : (i) ether compounds of formula (B)-(D); (ii) the preparation of (A) by dechlorination or debromination of compounds of formula CF2XCFXO(CF2)nCF2C6H3(COOR)2 (B); (iii) preparation of (B) by oxidising CF2XCFXO(CF2)nCF2C6H3(CH3)2 (C); (iv) preparation of (C) by reacting CF2XCFXO(CF2)nCOC6H3(CH3)2 (D) with diethylamino sulphur trifluoride; and (v) the preparation of (D) by reacting ester compounds of formula CF2XCFXO(CF2)nCOOR` (E) with Grignard reagents of formula MgBrC6H3(CH3)2 (F); R` = lower alkyl; and X = Cl or Br.
