Insulating material consists of a binder made of aa mixture of cement, lime and/or hydrated lime, and expanded perlite as additive, and preferably reinforced fibres. The novelty is that zeolite granules can be used as additives in addition to the expanded perlite. Preferably the zeolite granules are present in an amount of 0.5-75 wt.% of the perlite granules. The zeolite granules have a grain size of 0.5-5 mm at a perlite grain size of 0.5-10 mm.
