Hybrid electric road vehicle drive system

The system comprises a generator gear whose mechanical power is transmitted to secondary runners and whose torque is converted in planetary gears. An IC engine is installed cross-wise with both crankshaft ends fitted with primary runners of the generator gear. The front wheels of the vehicle are connected to the planetary gears by axle shafts with link heads. With a power requirement up to maximum torque of the IC engine, the speed difference between the primary runners and the secondary runners is reduced to the extent, that only electrical power is still produced in extents necessary as mechanical coupling energy for the formation of magnetic attraction forces. Rear-wheel mounted electric motors (11,12) are installed and carried by a rear-wheel axle (10) and the electric power of a generator-drive is used to drive the diagonally mounted electric motor, thus providing some redundancy in allowing the vehicle to operate with limited performance in the event of failure of the electronics (13,14).
