Spindle alignment for boring machine

The spindle (1) is supported between two bearings (3,4) and is fitted with a control cam (2) with an outer profile in which a cam follower (10) may be set. This is mounted on a slider (8) moving on two rods (9) set parallel in the spindle housing. The slider is operated by a hydraulic servo (11) to move between two end positions and with a central position for spindle rotation. The end positions, and the normal operating positions of the slider are monitored by control switches (18) on the extension of the servo piston rod (15). The end positions move the spindle into the correct rotational setting to align the tool bit with the workpiece prior to processing.
